Health Staff Manager (Full-time, Exempt)

Reports to: Sr. Vice President

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Manage shelter and public spay/neuter clinics, wildlife rehabilitation and oversee husbandry of shelter animals.
Supervise health staff and interns; including scheduling, training, and performance reviews.
Keep adequate inventory of all materials. Maintain budget.
Renew and monitor all required license requirements and compliance.
Work with veterinarians to set standards of care.
Monitor and schedule maintenance on clinic equipment.
Schedule appropriate continuing education for staff.
Maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with other departments.
Review and update training for volunteers.

Perform all other functions and special details as assigned by the Senior Vice President and President/CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates with proven management skills. College graduate preferred. Shelter experience not required but preferred. Certified to perform euthanasia within 6 months of appointment. Must have the ability to stay standing or active during entire shift. Must be available to work day or evening shifts any day of the week and respond to work in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.

SKILLS & ABILITY:

Must have ability to see big picture and manage department direction. Must have good communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to listen and take direction. Must be able to be creative and take initiative. Ideal candidate will have familiarity with the workings of an open door animal shelter and knowledge of shelter medicine. Candidate should also have experience with resolving common behavior problems of dogs and cats. Must be able to learn shelter software and analyze data.
