Executive Director – Manhattan – Penn South Social Services

PENN SOUTH SOCIAL SERVICES, INC. (PSSS) is looking for a part-time Executive Director (3 days per week) plus a monthly evening Board meetings and infrequent social events. PSSS is a unique community organization serving the Penn South housing cooperative, a 2,800 family middle-income, non-profit apartment complex in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life of the residents of Penn South as well as the residents of the surrounding community. We offer a wide range of recreational and cultural programs, as well as social work and health care services. We are looking for candidates to help with administrative and day-to-day functions.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Assisting the president in maintaining and establishing relationships with managers of city and state agencies (DFTA, SOFA), local city and state elected representatives (Manhattan Borough President, NYC Councilmembers, NYS Senate and Assembly members), and updating all city and state filings (NYS Grants Gateway,NYC HHS Accelerator, NYC Vendex).
Assist in supervising our discount program for health care services, including developing and distributing annual membership campaign letters and brochures, ensuring accurate record keeping, and generating Excel reports on a regular basis.
In conjunction with the President, work with the Director and staff of the social service agency which administers our Penn South Program for Seniors.
Support fundraising and public relations with campaigns as needed, as well as lending support to other committees when needed.
Write and distribute communications including website, e-newsletters, etc.
Supervise 2 part-time staff members and report to President on all staff activities and progress with PSSS programs.
Organize and attend all monthly Board meetings and assist with annual events and program parties.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have excellent writing skills, as well as first-rate organizational and record keeping abilities.
A minimum of 3 years office management experience.
Good critical thinking and problem solving skills are essential.
Candidates should be proficient in MS Word and Excel and have experience with Mailchimp and Doodle or similar programs.
