Drop-in Program Manager – Auburn Youth Resources – Auburn, WA

JOB SUMMARY: The Drop-In Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring a community youth center and associated programs. This position also ensures the operation of the shelter program for youth (ages 18-24). This position requires development and planning of the youth center; and the continued monitoring of program activities within the facility while maintaining a culture of safety for youth and the direction of volunteers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND TASKS:

1 Monitoring community center youth and recreational activities. Activities planning; coordination of community youth center activities to include recreation, arts, life skills, and computer/tutoring.

2 Create, modify, and maintain regular scheduling of community center and shelter services.

3 Collaborate with youth, families, schools, and other service providers to identify needs of the youth and work to make referrals to necessary services.

4 Lead and supervise programs for youth in coordination with TEEN FEED and other service providers.

5 Lead and oversee programs carried out in the youth center facility including GED prep program and other programs as they develop.

6 Record and timely reporting of daily / monthly / yearly outcomes and services provided.

7 Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of Auburn and local services and provide resource information for youth accessing both community youth center and shelter as needed.

8 Participate in multiagency collaborative projects region wide.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Requires one of the following:

a) At least three years’ experience working with at-risk youth or equivalent work experience; OR

b) Bachelor’s Degree in Human (Social Services) related field, and two years of prior related experience; OR

c) Any combination of experience and education and measurable performance which demonstrates the capability to perform the duties of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated ability to communicate and set clear and firm boundaries with youth.
Ability to work in highly stressful situations.
Demonstrated ability to intervene in crisis situations (Crisis Intervention skills).
Ability to work individually in a self-directed manner and as part of a team;
Self-motivated with an ability to problem-solve and prioritize;
Basic knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database systems);
Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds, with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages;
Access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance that meets WashingtonState’s minimum guidelines and the ability and willingness to utilize car to travel throughout KingCounty;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: This position works in a drop-in shelter environment, 40% of the time with clients, 30% of the time on a computer, and 30% time networking in the community and attending meetings. Work may be interrupted by the immediate needs of a client in crisis. Work involves physical movement throughout the facility. Position requires employee to lift/carry up to 35 pounds occasionally, and push/pull up to 20 pounds occasionally. Position has the ability to sit/stand as needed.

HOURS & COMPENSATION: This is a full-time (40 hours per week) exempt position. The pay is calculated based on education and relevant experience DOQ/DOE with excellent benefits package.
