Director of Constituent Services – Office of New York City Council Member Rosie Mendez

Position Summary: The Director of Constituent Services works closely with the Council Member (CM), and Chief of Staff (COS) to provide timely and quality responses to issues brought to the attention of the councilwoman that pertain to Manhattan Council District 2. The Director of Constituent Services receives and assigns all the cases that are collected in IQ, the City Council data base.

This position also has the responsibility of informing the CM and COS if there are reoccurring issues that may require legislation or some other action, such as discretionary or capital funding.

Work Responsibilities:

Constituent Services:
Manage, review and assign all constituent intakes in IQ and determine which communications from constituents are logged into IQ
Inform the CM and COS of trends or unusual complaints, requests, opinions, issues, etc.
Track caseload of each staff on a regular basis using the IQ management tools
Supervise staff working on IQ cases on a weekly or biweekly basis
Troubleshoot cases
Provide resources to staff regarding referrals and contacts in other city agencies and non-profit organizations
Facilitate/Coordinate activities for constituents, such as trainings provided by CBOs and other non-profit organizations that reach out to the CM to offer their services
Draft short summaries for the newsletter regarding constituent work
Staff the CM at community events or evening meetings as needed

   Community Liaison:
Represent the CM at a Community Board (CB) and in meetings as requested.
Brief the CM and COS on CB and other meetings s/he attends.

    Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree; Supervisory Experience;Prior work in government or non-profit sector; Spanish speaker strongly preferred
