Development Director – North Chicago – YouthBuild Lake County

Job description
YouthBuild Lake County (YBLC), a non-profit education and job training agency, located in the city of North Chicago, is looking for a full-time Development Director. Job is full time with accruable paid time off. This position reports to Executive Director and has direct reports. The YBLC FY16 budget is $1.4M. The new Director will be responsible for achieving a 22% year over year increase in individual and corporate contributions over the next three years.

Responsibilities include:
Management of our development team and working with Executive Director, Board and other staff.
Provide supervision and strategic direction for all development activities including supervision of coordinator and grant writer.
Focus on raising gifts from major donors of $2500 to $50,000. Must be able to demonstrate proven track record.
Build relationships through direct contact with Board, staff, funders and donors. Help cultivate new prospects and solicit prospects.
Oversee fundraising, cultivation and stewardship events including Spring Benefit, Donor Appreciation, and other events. Work with program staff as needed to assist in events.
Oversee and help in grant writing, grant reporting and foundation relationship management.
Oversee communications including newsletter, website, and social media.
Oversee all marketing activities regardless of audience.
Help develop, manage and report on revenue targets for all development categories. Ensure annual goals are met or exceeded.
Assist with other projects and duties, as necessary and as assigned.

Background Required
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in development including major gift or individual giving fundraising with non-profit/community-based organization.
Proficiency in MS Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and donor software.
Proficiency in Salesforce Nonprofit Starter Pack preferred.
Skilled in developing and facilitating collaborative relationships with internal team and external partners.
Must be a strong leader with the ability to work independently to create and implement plans for department success.
Strong organizational planning and administrative skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience and track record with individual and major gifts.
Strategic thinking, analysis, written and verbal skills.
Available for occasional evening and weekend hours.
