Development Director – Brava for Women in the Arts

DESCRIPTION
Brava! for Women in the Arts produces, presents and cultivates the artistic expression of Women, People of Color, LGBTQIA, Youth and other underrepresented voices.

Brava was founded in 1986 to produce and present plays by women. In 1996 Brava purchased the historic theater on 24th Street now known as Brava Theater Center. The Theater Center includes a 360-seat main stage, 65-seat studio theater, and a current 4000sf expansion project that will open in September 2017.

Organization Budget: $1.2m, 50% Earned revenue and 50% Contributed Revenue

The Development Director reports to and works in partnership with the Executive Director. The Development Director will spearhead organizations fundraising efforts to sustain programming and grow infrastructure.

Responsibilities
· Develop and execute Brava’s annual fundraising plan
· Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
· Manage donor database – Patron Manager and oversee data entry and gift processing
· Develop new and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
· Execute and adapt strategies to increase and sustain a base of annual individual donors
· Oversee organization of special fundraising events
· Develop, Write and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising

Qualifications
· Minimum 3-5 years experience in development
· Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously
· Excellent editing, writing and verbal skills
· Technologically savvy and proficient in various computer applications
· Ability to work in a small active office with lots of projects in going on at the same time
· Ability to follow protocol and procedures
· Ability to work independently and creatively
· A flexible and innovative approach to problem solving

Preferred Experience and Interests
· Knowledge and appreciation of dance, theater, and the performing arts
· Knowledge of Bay Area communities of color, LGBTQ and/or women theater artist
