The mission of the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is to provide permanent supportive housing and a safe and healthy community fostering dignity, respect, and personal stability, and to advocate ending homelessness for women. Position Summary

DWC is seeking a self-starter and highly organized employee to oversee and administer the organizational compliance systems and processes to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and funder requirements, and establish the highest standards of excellence. The Compliance Specialist also plays an integral part in the tenant selection process. Additionally, working alongside DWC’s Housing Manager, the Compliance Specialist assists with providing the support needed to ensure DWC’s residents remain housed and do not return to homelessness. This full-time position will report directly to the Director of Administration.

Essential Functions

Conduct day-to-day landlord property/asset management functions, including: resident screening, leasing, rent collection, and housekeeping inspections.
Participate in regular management/tenant meetings as facilitated by the Housing Manager.
Prepare and coordinate reports and information related to all applicable building codes and housing compliance, including lease-up records, fair housing, and affirmative marketing data.
Track property- and tenant- related data in order to ensure continued contract compliance, and submit all applicable compliance reports to government lenders on schedule.
Serve as point of contact for project auditors and facilitate project audits.
Support Program Staff in the development and promotion of Residence rules and the facilitation of resident grievance and eviction procedures.
Provide resident orientation on building maintenance issues, fire drills, and disaster preparedness.

Necessary Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education/experience required
At least two years experience in affordable housing; experience in permanent supportive housing and/or services for homeless women preferred
Broad knowledge and experience in nonprofit housing issues, including fair housing requirements, Section 8 compliance, etc.
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to set and meet goals and deadlines
Strong analytical and technical skills required
Spanish language skills a plus
Excellent computer skills; must include proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate and explain complex issues with clarity, tact, and diplomacy

Schedule and Salary: This is a full-time, permanent, non-exempt position and is eligible for DWC’s comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, parking and transportation benefits. Office hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Salary range: $33,000-$36,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
