Assistant Director of Community Based Health – Foundation for Healthy Generations – Seattle, WA

The ideal candidate will have exceptional partnering skills with the ability to comfortably connect with health care/MCO executives, government workers and Community Health Workers, and an ability to operationalize the work. This individual reports to the Senior Director of Applied Research and is responsible for leading Healthy Gen’s work refining and implementing our Community Based Health Framework. The ideal candidate will also have a good sense of humor, patience and an intrinsic desire to be of service both to coworkers and the community.

Duties and Responsibilities

Training, Collaboration and Consultation

Support and teach others how to develop and implement authentic community engagement strategies using Community Health Workers in underserved/vulnerable communities
Provide coaching and technical assistance to supervisors and program leads working with or developing Community Health Worker programs around the state
Establish, build and maintain relationships with collaborating agencies focused on community based health
Facilitate coalition and stakeholder work
Facilitate and mediate crucial conversations with people from all walks of life

Leadership

Stay abreast of statewide healthcare reform efforts and how authentic community engagement fits into the picture
Coordinate and collaborate with Healthy Gen staff, external stakeholders, contractors and community members on the development and implementation of strategies that promote community based prevention
Leverage emerging opportunities and alert the team to potential pitfalls
Provide leadership and support to both Healthy Gen team members and external partners on existing and emerging community based health initiatives
Participate in programmatic strategic planning including:
Facilitating meetings
Co-creating materials and learning with Healthy Gen team and external partners
Collaborate on program evaluation and data collection strategies
Stay current and connected on the changing landscape of external stakeholders and contractors related to community based heath

Project Management

Provide project management support to both Healthy Gen team members and external partners on large current community based health initiatives
Oversee operational implementation of initiatives including:
Preparing written materials
Developing work plans with Healthy Gen team members and external partners
Mange program budget and subcontracts for assigned projects
Monitor and pursue opportunities to disseminate program successes to local, state and national audiences of professional colleagues through written communications and/or conference presentations

Required Qualifications:

Excellent clinical skills and experience coaching and/or supervising people, especially those in helping professions
Master’s degree in Social Work or Public Health
At least 5-7 years’ experience in social work or community based public health; additional years’ experience may be substituted for educational requirement
Training and consultation skills
Excellent ability and experience connecting with underserved and underrepresented people
Deep understanding and ability to work with the systems that serve underserved and underrepresented people
Intermediate level proficiency with:
Windows 8 (moving to Windows 10 soon)
Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of general office machines and telephone system
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with evaluators
Experience working in health care (physical or behavioral)
Experience teaching and/or consulting
Experience and understanding of system change
Commitment to healthy living and health education
