Americorps – Outreach / Volunteer Programs Coordinator – Cascade Bicycle Club – Seattle, WA

About: Cascade Bicycle Club is a 16,000 member, 38 professional staff bicycle club based in Seattle, Washington. Cascade’s activities serve the bicycling community in the Puget Sound region and hosts rides for riders from across the globe. The Improving Lives through Bicycling Program project addresses the need for healthy transportation options for adults, healthy learning habits for children and better infrastructure for all to access in order to utilize the bicycle.

The Outreach and Volunteer Programs Coordinator helps Cascade in providing direct service in recruiting volunteers and promoting healthy activity in the Puget Sound region. This position supports improving lives through bicycling by recruiting and training volunteers for various events. From supporting Cascade’s educational work, our diverse rides and event and helping obtain demographics of cyclists in the region, the AmeriCorps position in integral to Cascade’s mission. The Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator serves directly with the Volunteer Coordinator to build and administer a volunteer orientation for new volunteers. This position also helps design, implement and track volunteer activities for over 1,000 active volunteers in the Cascade network. The AmeriCorps member will directly coordinate Bike Month in May, one of Cascade’s largest initiatives, by recruiting and managing volunteers for Bike to Work Day stations, plan and attend over 30 community events and assist in the outreach to over 3,500 new adult riders. The Outreach and Volunteer Programs Coordinator will also support Cascade’s demographic tracking work through managing and training volunteers for our Bike Count. Through recruiting and managing volunteers for this program, the AmeriCorps has a direct impact on infrastructure and community influence around Puget Sound.

Key Member Duties:

Help recruit and maintain 1000+ volunteers for Cascade events year round.
Assist with creation and implementation of volunteer orientation.
Plan and facilitate volunteer events for groups of 5 – 10 volunteers at the Cascade offices to support the organization’s mission.
Assist in planning large community events promoting physical activity, such as Bike Month in May and Bicycle Sundays during the spring and summer.
Communicate with community partners around community events.
Serve with volunteers to get timely bike count data, update data, identify locations and study initial trends for the Washington bike counts, including supporting the Bike Link Grant in South Snohomish County.
