Senior Program Associate – The Children’s Partnership – Santa Monica, CA

The Children’s Partnership (TCP) is seeking a highly motivated professional to help shape and implement strategies in TCP’s program areas related to improving the health and well-being of children. Special consideration will be given to those with experience working on issues related to children’s dental health, increasing access to health care through telehealth (a key form of health information technology), and public health insurance (including Medi-Cal and Covered California). Responsibilities include research, writing, project management, coalition-building, relationship development and management, strategy development, and local and state advocacy. Over time, this professional will be expected to develop deep policy and advocacy expertise in issues related to children’s dental health, telehealth, and other children’s issues and assume an increasing level of responsibility in those program areas.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide in-depth research & policy analysis related to children’s health, especially dental health, telehealth, and health coverage through Medi-Cal and Covered California.

Write high-quality briefs, memos, letters, electronic postings & other materials to educate decision-makers & advance policy agendas.

Represent TCP in select external workgroups, meetings, briefings & other venues to promote strategies related to children’s health, especially telehealth & dental access policies.

Help shape community-based pilot projects to test the use of telehealth to bring care to children.

Lead & coordinate select workgroups & coalitions

related to improving dental health & promoting wider adoption of telehealth for children and others, as necessary.

Track federal developments related to children’s health, especially dental health & telehealth.

Coordinate production & dissemination of materials & outreach—including press outreach, inclusion on website & social media activities—with TCP’s communications team.

Participate in the execution of relevant funder activities—including the development of proposals & reports—with TCP’s development team.

Represent TCP in select state, local & national external workgroups, meetings, briefings & other venues to promote TCP goals & strategies.

Perform research, strategic planning, advocacy & writing in support of TCP’s other programs.

Participate in and lead various internal program team & staff meetings.

Full-time position. Reports to Senior Director of Programs.
Salary: Commensurate with experience. Excellent health, retirement & other benefits. Some travel required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Expertise in health policy & children’s health issues, knowledg•e of federal & state health policy preferred

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while paying a high level of attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a team & independently Strong track record in developing and managing relationships with stakeholders

Experience with dental health issues, telehealth issues and/or Medi-Cal or Covered California a plus but not required

Experience in successfully leading coalition efforts Commitment to & experience with nonprofit organizations

Excellent writing & research skills

Strong project management skills

Ability to accurately & concisely summarize complex

information for a broad range of audiences

Strong oral communication & public speaking skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree; masters preferred

At least three (3) years experience in

social/health policy and/or advocacy
