Juntos Program Director – Conservation Voters New Mexico – Albuquerque, NM

Description:

As part of our long-term commitment to engage new constituencies and to diversify the environmental movement, Conservation Voters New Mexico Education Fund and the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund have partnered to launch an organizing program that will build strong, grassroots Latino community activism and leadership in the fight against climate change.

The Juntos Director oversees a grassroots organizing program that amplifies the voice and builds the power of Latino families in the Albuquerque area to be part of the solutions to pollution and climate change and to promote clean air, clean water and clean energy. We are looking for a creative, ambitious leadership-level organizer who is goal-driven and experienced in movement building.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and evaluate issue organizing campaigns that successfully recruit volunteers, build grassroots leaders and gets the attention of decisions makers and media.
Hire, train and manage a successful, motivated team and ensure they have the resources, plans and tools needed to meet short and long-term goals.
Develop relationships and partnerships with Latino organizations, leaders and policymakers.
Work with partner organizations and consultants to implement a Spanish-language and Latino-focused communications strategy.
Work with partner organizations to assist with social media and online campaigns.
Oversee administrative aspects of the program including narrative reports and financial monitoring and reporting.

Primary Qualifications:

Minimum 5+ years mid-level or leadership experience in grassroots community, issue or labor organizing programs.
Experience in programs that include volunteer outreach (canvassing, phone banking, house visits, etc.), training volunteers, monitoring goals, developing strategies and tactics, and forming alliances with other groups.
Enthusiasm and commitment to amplifying the voice and leadership of Latino communities in New Mexico.
Creative problem-solver who is resourceful in challenging or new situations.
Spoken and written Spanish language skills are required.
Experience with VAN and Excel is required.

Excellent organizational and time management skills including campaign planning and strategy development and the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment.

Position requires the ability to travel and to work some evenings and weekends.
Preference will be given to those who have New Mexico experience or ties.

The position will be based in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is a full-time salaried position that includes a comprehensive benefits package. Salary is commensurate with experience.
