Position Summary: Full-time position supporting schools, synagogues and other secular and faith-based community organizations in their education, advocacy and relief/development efforts. There is a particular focus on organizing and activating students in summer camps, youth groups, religious schools, high schools, middle schools and colleges.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establish and maintain regular communication with student leaders and activists in schools, youth groups, camps, colleges, and other secular and faith-based institutions on a rotating basis;
Responsible for coordinating all aspects of JWW’s Activist Certification and Training (ACT) program including recruitment of and providing resources for teachers and student leaders of youth activist groups;
Respond to all requests for assistance, support, speakers, materials, etc. from students;
Work with students to organize on-campus education, advocacy and fundraising events;
Conduct outreach to potential student activists, youth groups and teachers;
Make presentations to all of the above constituencies;
Respond to Bar/Bat Mitzvah project inquiries and assist with implementation of mitzvah projects for students;
Assist with JWW speaker recruitment and training;
Assist with development and implementation of new programming aimed at students;
Supervise student volunteers;
Provide content for JWW communication on social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter;
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum bachelor’s degree required
Two plus years in full-time community organizing, not including internships and volunteer work
Experience working with middle schoolers, high schoolers, youth group members, campers, and college students preferred
Informal Jewish Education experience preferred
Familiarity with Los Angeles Jewish community – specifically, the synagogue community
Experience working with other faith-based and inter-faith communities preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized and works well as part of a team
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
