Student Engagement Alumni Scholars Program – Berkeley – Cal Alumni Association

The Cal Alumni Association (CAA) provides over $2 million in scholarships to nearly 800 UC Berkeley undergraduate students each year. The Coordinator is responsible for the advising of the scholars and the programming and management of The Achievement Award Program (TAAP), one of three scholarships under the umbrella of the Alumni Scholars Program. The goal of the position is to aid in the success of the TAAP Scholars through supportive services, while also ensuring the scholars meet their scholarship requirements.

SUPERVISOR: Director, Alumni Scholars Program

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advising and Mentoring (60%)
Assess and advise on educational, emotional, and career needs of the TAAP Scholars.
Develop programming to support these needs.
Provide front-line advising and mentoring support.
Research on-campus resources and with campus personnel, build a network of support for the scholars through direct service and referrals to other campus departments.
Develop/nurture/support a scholar peer support network.
Program Management (10%)

Develop and execute TAAP annual program plan under the direction of the Director, Alumni Scholars Program.
Maintain ongoing evaluation of overall program and program participants to ensure high quality services.
Maintain regular communication with TAAP Scholars for check-ins and program updates.
Administrative (20%)

Update and produce TAAP Scholar annual contract.
Monitor and ensure all TAAP scholars meet all scholarship requirements.
Responsible for all administrative duties related to program including but not limited to maintaining TAAP program and scholar documents, developing and maintaining program and scholar calendar, and coordinating meeting venue space.
Maintain TAAP Scholar updates to the scholarship management database.
Assist in fund disbursement follow-up for TAAP scholars.
Execute TAAP marketing strategies including email, social media, and website campaigns.
TAAP Development Support (5%)

Coordinate TAAP scholar participation in annual Thank-A-Thon and other donor thank you activities as needed.
Maintain and provide statistical program information to support fundraising efforts.
General (5%)

Provide direction to student assistants as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree.
Experience in higher education student program coordination, student management and advising
Experience and training in student financial aid, development, guidance and advising
Experience and sensitivity in addressing the diverse needs of a multicultural student population; ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
Solutions oriented self-starter with keen eye for details.
Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent public speaking, presentation and customer service skills.
Must show accuracy, organization, and discretion.
Outstanding project managementskills and experience.
Excellent analytical and computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Google Office Suites, and other online tools.
Energetic, self-directedand assertive, but also flexible and creative.
Able to collaborate effectively with peers, external volunteers, vendors and donors.
Flexibility and adaptability in work schedule to work some evenings and weekends.
Ability to assume responsibility with minimum supervision, and work in a team environment.
Basic understanding of common practices and terms of financial aid for higher education
Must submit to and pass background check and FBI/DOJ fingerprint screening.
Must have valid CA driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working and communicating with diverse and multigenerational groups of people, and with under-represented communities of students and/or alumni.
Experience with database management, data collection and building reports.
Experience in event planning, management and logistics.
UC Berkeley alumnus/a.
Knowledge of UC Berkeley student resources, policies, and procedures.
Familiarity with UC Berkeley and/or the Cal Alumni Association.

Salary and Benefits:
This position is classified as an at-will, full-time, non-exempt position working approximately 37.5 hours per week. The pay range is $21-23/hr.
