Senior Program Staff- Rural Program – Camp Fire USA Alaska Council – Anchorage, AK

Stationed in rural Alaskan communities, Camp Fire’s Rural Program staff provide youth with cold water safety lessons, activities which promote healthy life choices through providing lunches, snacks and programs designed to increase awareness of healthy eating and physcial activity habits. Environmental awareness, games and arts & crafts, camping over nights and community service projects are also important program components planned and led by the Staff.

Program Staff are assigned to four communities throughout the summer, and will be in each community for up to two weeks. Interstate transportation and room and board are provided.

Duties include maintaining positive community relationships with both community members and the designated contact. Program staff work in teams of two to three, depending on the size of the community, plan all activities provided during the session and supervise the children attending program.

Senior Program Staff Expectations: will create and implement program, form community relationships, facilitate activities, and use advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills when needed. He/she will be primarily responsible for weekly check-ins with supervisors, required paperwork, and all other logistics involved in implementing program.

Senior Program Staff (22 positions): This position will create and implement youth and community based programs, form community relationships, facilitate activities, and use advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills when needed. Additional duties include completing weekly check-ins with supervisors, required paperwork, and all other logistics involved in implementing program, while working productively as a member of a team.

Salary Range: $2,800-$3,200 plus room and board for the season.

Requirements: Minimum age 21.

Current lifeguard, first aid, and CPR/AED certification required.

Experience working with youth for two or more years a must.

BA in education, outdoor recreation, anthropology/sociology or other related field and cultural exchange experience preferred.
