Inspire Nevada Program Coordinator – Project High Hopes – Las Vegas, NV

Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator is a statewide organizer who prioritizes and coordinates recruitment of outstanding student applicants to serve as Inspire leaders in their respective high schools and communities. The Program Coordinator will recruit young adults (typically college students) to mentor high school teams by advising and supporting students in organizing and implementing community action projects and voter registration efforts.

Job Responsibilities:

Develops and implements a nonpartisan plan to register 85% of eligible students to vote from selected high schools each year.
Recruits student leaders from target high schools for participation in Inspire Leadership Academy.
Recruits and trains college student mentors to work with school teams to plan, organize and implement voter registration and civic action projects.
Designs and develops leadership training curriculum for mentors and students and facilitates goal setting and accountability standards for program activities throughout the Inspired Year.
Hosts periodic regional meetings (in-person and online) for student leaders, mentors and Inspire volunteers.
Promotes student-led and Inspire events and activities through social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram).
Identifies and cultivates relationships with community leaders, elected officials, educators, organizations and potential donors to sustain and expand Inspire efforts statewide.
Communicates with Project High Hopes Board of Directors through regular program and financial reports; obtains prior approval for major expenses and hiring of staff and interns.
Maintains database for efficient tracking, reporting and follow-up on program outcomes.
Prepares annual budget and manages income/expense/obligations in accordance with budget projections.
Other duties as assigned.

Seasonal Activities:

Heavier seasonal workloads may occur as a result of project deadlines and peak activity periods. Weekend and/or evening work will be required at times.

Knowledge & Skills:

Background in grassroots organizing, training, motivating volunteers, and coalition building, particularly with high school-aged students.
Experience serving as a leader of community/campus organizations.
Strong self-starter with excellent project management skills and technological aptitude.
Exceptional written and verbal communication.
General knowledge of state and regional voter registration procedures.
Access to a car, valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance required.
Due to our work with minor children, Inspire requires all employees and contractors to pass a criminal background screening.
