Health Care / Patient Services Representative (PSR) Instructor – Grace Institute – New York, NY

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Demonstrate expertise in effectively instructing adult learners in the technical and soft skills needed in the Medical Secretary or Patient Services Representative (PSR) role, including proficiency in customer-service protocols and point-of-service processes; checking patients in and out; maintaining appointment schedules, and utilizing an organization’s automated practice-management system (PMS). Must also demonstrate ability to instruct learners in medical terminology; telephone protocols; point-of-service processes; professional standards of conduct, and display a basic knowledge of fundamental care coordination competencies.

Grace Institute’s training staff is responsible for producing high quality, well-prepared instruction for classes where adult learners are trained in a wide range of practical workplace skills and behaviors. Staff maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere and engage with learners in ways that contribute to the both the learners’ and the organization’s success.

Responsibilities

Establish and communicate clear learning objectives
Develop written lesson plans and assessment activities
Design and conduct engaging participant-centered training and instructional activities including, but not limited to role plays, case studies, projects and group discussions
Consistently track and report on all areas of learner progress, challenge and achievement with subject matter and workplace behaviors including communication, organization and motivation
Consistently role model workplace behavior, ethics and Grace Core Values

Qualifications

Experience training front-line non-clinical health care staff and/or experience as an instructor in a workplace or workforce-development environment preferred; experience in both corporate and non-profit environment is ideal
Skilled in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree in teaching, education, organizational development or related field preferred
Comfort and desire to interact with learners of highly diverse ethnic, educational and professional backgrounds
Flexible, creative, reflective and professional character is a must
