Position Summary:
Toberman Neighborhood Center seeks a Grant Writer/Development Assistant to support the Development Department and expand on the organization’s existing base of support from grant making institutions. The Grant Writer/Development Assistant is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate Toberman’s mission and programs to potential funders. Reporting to the Development Director, the Grant Writer/Development Assistant will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

Identifying, researching, and facilitating outreach to foundations, corporate and government grant prospects.
Creating, drafting, editing, and compiling LOIs, proposals, related attachments, and follow-ups, tailored to each funder based on their priorities and requirements.
Writing and producing reports to funders as necessary.
Managing a grants calendar, communicating deadlines and related deliverables to other team members, Program staff, and Finance staff to ensure on-time submissions.
Facilitating collaboration between Development, Finance, and Programs department in creating accurate budgets tailored for each prospective donor.
Identifying, researching, and facilitating outreach to new foundation, corporate and government grant prospects.
Working closely with staff to develop ideas and content for proposed projects.
Supporting cultivation and management efforts of foundation, corporation and public agency relationships.
Collaborating with Program staff to steward awarded funds, particularly communicating funder expectations to Program staff to support their implementation of programming.
Collaborating with Program staff to obtain information necessary to develop communications collateral, including annual reports, case studies, success stories, etc.).
Maintaining up-to-date information on funder research, communications, deadlines, and reporting requirements in the DonorPerfect CRM database software.
Maintaining complete and accurate files of all materials submitted to funders.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

3+ years previous grant writing experience.

Excellent persuasive writing and editing skills with keen attention to detail.
Excellent prospect research skills for identifying and evaluating grant opportunities.
Excellent communication and donor engagement skills with the ability to develop productive relationships with staff, trustees and funders
Excellent ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks to balance responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
