Global Coordinator – Academics Stand Against Poverty – New Haven, CT

Academics Stand Against Poverty (ASAP) is an international association focused on helping researchers and teachers enhance their impact on poverty. It does so by advancing collaboration among poverty-focused academics, with an emphasis on South-North connections; promoting effective outreach to policy makers and broader public audiences; and helping academics pursue applied research and intervention projects as well as campaigns on specific issues.

ASAP is seeking a talented and committed Global Coordinator to join the team. The Global Coordinator will collaborate with the Program Manager on overall coordination of ASAP Global, volunteer and member activity management, and financial development. In addition, the Global Coordinator will commit a portion of his/her time to Incentives for Global Health (IGH), the sister organization that, with ASAP, is developing market-based solutions to global health challenges.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Developing, coordinating and implementing ASAP’s anti-poverty work across themes and country chapters, which involves, but is not limited to:
Developing content for the ASAP website
Fundraising and grant writing
Website improvements and routine maintenance
Managing and recruiting interns
Drafting ASAP promotional materials
Supporting the ASAP chapter network
Overseeing ASAP projects
Event and conference planning
Communicating with ASAP members
Minor financial administration

Enthusiasm for the ASAP mission
Excellent communications skills
Excellent writing skills
Energy and initiative (being self-directed and can work effectively without step-by-step guidance)
Excellent time management skills
Residence in the New Haven, CT area

Desired Skills, experience, and qualities

Past success in administrative, project management, and/or leadership roles
Fundraising experience, ideally grant writing
Strong academic record
Advocacy experience
Non-profit experience, ideally with a US tax-exempt organization
Knowledge of WordPress

Position type: Part or full time (20-40 hours per week, to be negotiated)
