Educational Director, Early Childhood Programs – Brooklyn Community Services

Position Summary:

Our Early Childhood education program is designed to enhance the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development of young children through high quality educational and social services for themselves, and their families. The Literacy Trainer supports teaching staff plan and implement lessons that meet NYS Common Core and Creative Curriculum learning objectives. Literacy Trainer serves as Duffield Children’s Center DOH Education Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design thematic literacy training curriculum. Assist teachers in implementing monthly theme based curriculum in toddler through preschool classrooms
Develop and lead training workshops for staff at each center
Observe classes on a regular basis and provide in classroom coaching
Assist Site Managers in the guidance of staff, scheduling of classes, special events, and field trips
Provide assistance and mentoring to teaching staff as needed
Purchase training books, manuals, and other materials
Arrange training seminars and workshops offered through other agencies and communicate to share ideas and learn about new developments in the field
Complete Initial Child Assessments, Family needs assessment, partnership agreement and enrollment
Other related duties, as assigned, consistent with above

Qualifications Required:

MA in Early Childhood Education; NYS Permanent Teacher Certification; Two years of previous teaching experience in N-K. Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.

Qualifications Preferred:

Familiarity with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD
