Associate Director – Towson – Towson University

Job Purpose
The Center for Student Diversity (CSD) at Towson University is accepting applications for an Associate Director, Cultural Competency Education. The Associate Director, Cultural Competency Education will develop and implement campus-wide trainings, workshops, and resources that build cultural competence and capacity for students, staff, and faculty around diversity, inclusion, identity, and social justice. The Associate Director will work individually and collaboratively to enhance the cultural capacity on campus to address the needs of underrepresented and marginalized communities.

Description
Develops and facilitates campus-wide trainings, workshops, and resources for students, staff, and faculty focused on cultural competency education to build awareness of intersectionality, unconscious bias, power/privilege, and allyship, explore the importance of advocacy for underrepresented and marginalized communities, and challenge systems of oppression, racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, etc.; recruits, develops, and manages student peer educators to assist with cultural competency education/facilitation; collaborates with the CSD staff on a variety of training and workshops for the TU campus community (i.e. LGBTQ+ Speakers Bureau; Orientation Leaders; SAGE Mentors; Resident Assistants; Student Ambassadors; Health Center Peer Educators; Retreat for Social Justice; etc.); creates and implements assessment tools that evaluate participant learning outcomes and uses feedback and data to improve and expand cultural competency education; supports Center for Student Diversity programs, events, and activities; and advises multicultural student groups affiliated with the Center for Student Diversity.

Qualifications
Master’s degree and three years of experience in Program Planning, Advising, Mentoring, and Collaborating with Internal and External Sources The selected candidate must have knowledge of higher education, specifically focused on cultural competency education; experience developing, facilitating, and evaluating training, workshops, and resources that address diversity and social justice issues and advocate for underrepresented and marginalized communities; experience working with diverse student populations, including but not limited to Latinx, LGBTQ, African American, Asian and Pacific Islander, low-income, first-generation, and women populations; commitment to continuous learning, development, and research on current diversity, social justice, and inclusion topics; and ability to work with a wide range of students, staff, and faculty in a diverse college setting. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.

Preferred: Masters Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Cultural Studies, or a closely related field. Proficiency in Spanish or other languages, in addition to English.
