After School Program Staff – Presidio Community YMCA – San Francisco, CA

Share your skills and love of learning with our youth at our Afterschool Programs! Give youth the opportunity to explore and experience a variety of activities like cooking, gardening, painting, theater, sports, science, and more! We are looking for enthusiastic people with a passion for youth development and a drive to be a positive role model for youth.

The Sutro After School (SAS) serves youth in grades K through 5th at Sutro Elementary School in the Richmond neighborhood. Positions are for 2015 – 2016 San Francisco Unified School Year.

After School Lead Program Instructor

Leads a group of up to 20 youth daily and will also curate and create lesson plans for Sutro Afterschool Program, supporting and coaching fellow Program Instructors through their lesson planning and implementation. The Lead Program Instructor is responsible creating a positive, challenging, and safe afterschool environment for the students enrolled in SAS.

Must be available Monday — Friday 22 hours per week from 2:00-6:00 p.m. (program starts at 2:45 and ends at 6:00). Additional weekly staff meetings or planning periods on days to be determined. Hours may vary slightly in accordance with the SFUSD calendar and program needs. Previous experience with creating lesson plans for afterschool programming required.

After School Program Instructor

Leads a group of 20 youth in grades K through 5th and is responsible for creating a positive, challenging, and safe afterschool environment for the students enrolled in SAS. The top priority of the program is to teach the participants viable skills through using a youth development philosophy in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities taking place after school.

Must be available Monday — Friday 17.5-20 hours per week from 2:30-6:00 p.m. (program starts at 2:45 and ends at 6:00). Weekly staff meetings of 30-60 minutes per week on a day to be determined. Hours may vary slightly in accordance with the SFUSD calendar and program needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL POSITIONS

Minimum 18 years old
An AA degree or higher OR official transcripts reflecting 48 college units AND a high school diploma/equivalent OR Completion of CBEST AND a high school diploma/equivalent OR Completion of CODESP AND a high school diploma/equivalent.
Previous experience running recreational, enrichment, or academic activities with groups of youth, and knowledge of a variety of classroom and behavior management techniques.
Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.

You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
All employees working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationship over minors. All employees in SFUSD sites/contracted sites must be fingerprinted through DOJ and FBI AND be cleared before they can start work.
TB test results must be provided upon commencement of employment.
