SEO Scholars provides motivated public high school students with an out-of-school supplemental academic curriculum, college guidance and the leadership development necessary to gain admission to, and succeed at, competitive colleges and universities.

Position Overview

The 11th and 12th Grade Program Manager is responsible for the management and advising of the 11th and 12th grade cohorts. The Program Manager’s primary focus will be overseeing the college admissions process from 11th grade through college application, admissions, financial aid negotiation and successful enrollment at college for 100% of our Scholars. Working with the College Consultant, this person will work closely with each Scholar in creating smart college lists and strong applications to competitive colleges and scholarships. He or she will also lead workshops for families and ensure that the hard work the Scholars have put into the program is translated into college success. Additionally, the Program Manager will place 11th grade students in summer enrichment programs. This includes working with mentors who will assist students in completing applications and essays. The 11th and 12th Grade Program Manager reports to the Assistant Director of SEO Scholars.

Responsibilities

Lead and implement SEO programming on Saturdays and after school for each cohort.
Plan and manage the process for applying to and matriculating in summer enrichment programs including running workshops for Scholars and mentors.
Support 11th grade Scholars through the following activities/program elements: writing, revising and submitting applications to and securing placement in Enrichment Programs, continuing their own SEO coursework, working with SAT test prep providers.
Plan and manage a multi-day college tour for 11th graders.
Conduct college admissions and financial aid meetings for families.
Working with the College Consultant, guide each senior through the application, admissions and financial aid process.
Advise and assist each senior in developing an appropriate list of safety, target and reach colleges/universities.
Advise and assist students in enhancing applications to ensure highest quality (i.e. re-taking tests, proofreading essays, writing recommendations, communicating with high schools, etc.)
Document applications submitted as well as test scores, transcripts and recommendations.
Negotiate financial aid including scholarships, grants, loans and other special admission programs.
Ensure 100% are admitted into a four-year college/university; 90% are admitted to top 3 tiers as ranked by Barron’s.

Build and maintain strong relationships with admissions officers at colleges and other community-based organizations and college-prep programs. Collaborate with admission officers and advocate for SEO Scholars candidates for admission.

Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and high level of professionalism
Highly resourceful, able to anticipate obstacles and change courses appropriately
Thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Master’s Degree preferred

Spanish language proficiency and experience working with first-generation college students are preferred
