Writer – Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness – New York, NY

The Institute for Children, Poverty, and Homelessness seeks a part-time writer to work on-site three days a week (Tuesday-Thursday).

Primary responsibilities include: writing op/eds, blogs, and other articles on timely topics related to family homelessness and poverty from both a NYC and national perspective. Conduct interviews with in-house experts and those in the field; basic analysis of data trends and fact checking; and background reporting/research.

Qualifications and Expectations:

Bachelors preferably in journalism, writing, or English
Storyteller who writes clear, persuasive copy in another person’s voice
Attention to detail, especially with fact checking and sourcing
Quick turnaround and ability to go through multiple rounds of edits
Interest or background in homelessness or social issues

Compensation

Commensurate with experience and industry standards.
