Workplace Site Specialist – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles

Position Description: The Site-Based Specialist is in the driver’s seat to mentoring magic. As a Site Based Specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles you are at the forefront to ensure that each child in our program receives the mentoring experience that he/she deserves by recruiting, interviewing, matching, providing guidance and support, conducting regularly scheduled case management, in person contact with mentors and mentees as well as regularly interfacing with and presenting to school administrators and corporate partners.

Create an atmosphere of fun and magic for visitors, callers, and staff.
Provide support for on-site matches; provide general match support and respond to inquiries from Bigs and Littles
Provide support for enrollment and assessment process for volunteers and youth participants
Assist in development of curriculums and agendas for Workplace mentoring programs.
Assist in recruitment and outreach events and activities for volunteers, as needed
Administrative assistance for the Site Based Program Manager
Provide support for volunteer recognition activities and events at the school site
Actively participate in strategic meetings and recruitment events for the individual schools.
Provide support for site-based presentations, as needed
Collaborate with agency departmental staff to ensure smooth processing of site-based matches
Participate in all Agency staff and team meetings
Participate in school meetings, as required
Develop, market and present match activities/events that offer volunteers and children a variety of opportunities for group interaction and agency affiliation.
Collaborate with other service delivery staff to ensure smooth transition among functions
Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

Must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; preferred fields Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Education
Demonstrate solid experience in program coordination, school community partnerships, and recruitment for at least 1-2 years
Must have Customer/Client Focus: Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of fellow staff, volunteers, children, parents and agency partners.
Must have a high level of organization and excellent time management skills.
Must have excellent oral and written presentation skills.
Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekend and evenings.
Must be willing and able to work with diverse populations, bilingual skills preferred in Chinese or Spanish.
Must have transportation, valid CA driver’s License, and evidence of automobile insurance.
Must demonstrate word processing, excel database, basic power point skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend and drive. Job requires frequent verbal and computer communication. Computer, telephone and fax use are frequently required.

Working Location: Location is based on a percentage of where work time is spent. Indoors–75%. Travel (local) – 25% – job requires local travel.
