SACNAS is the largest national multidisciplinary, multicultural society dedicated to fostering the success of URM’s (underrepresented minorities) in STEM­­ (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). SACNAS is looking for an exceptional individual who desires to work full time within a nonprofit environment leading technical projects and increasing our impact. With over 40 years of history SACNAS has developed a national footprint of over 115 student chapters, a highly regarded Leadership Institute, and the largest Diversity in STEM Conference in the country. If you are a Salesforce/Tech wiz, mission orientated and a good project manager working in the nonprofit/government/philanthropy space, then this could be the job for you! SACNAS is seeking a professional that lives at the intersection of technology and social impact. The person in this role will work with SACNAS staff, members, and external partners to identify, develop, implement, and oversee technical projects that utilize systems such as Salesforce, Basecamp, Confex, CVENT, and other networking platforms. This role will be directly responsible for scoping projects, providing end-user training, and ensuring integration of tech systems across the organization. We are seeking someone with a programmatic nonprofit/government/philanthropy background that has experience managing vendors and driving technical projects from conception through launch and overseeing maintenance. The immediate project this role will spearhead is a migration to Salesforce and the launch of our new event management platform, CVENT. Future projects will include a website redo, the building of online communities, integration of other platforms with Salesforce, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in a related field (social sciences, MBA, Communications, etc.) and at least three years of experience in a relevant area; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Tech-based Programs: Experience in assessing, development and managing sustainable tech-based social impact programming that is in alignment with an organizational mission.

Communications: Excellent writing, small group communication and presentation skills.

Logistics: Based at the Santa Cruz, CA National Headquarters; must possess the ability to travel on occasion throughout the United States.

Mission: Strong commitment to and alignment with the goals of SACNAS.

Desired Education and Experience:

Master’s in a relevant discipline from an accredited university.
At least three years of experience working for mission focused organizations in a programmatic, evaluation and/or communications role.
Strong knowledge of databases.
Direct experience managing technology vendors.
Strong project management skills.
Direct experience supporting colleagues and other end-users.
A background in developing best practices and procedures for staff use of technologies.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
Familiarity with small and large group events is desirable.
Experience facilitating the development of online programming aimed at student and/or professional audiences.
Flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong cross-team collaboration skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Occasional regional and national travel will be required.
Passion and dedication for the SACNAS social impact mission.
Experience maintaining confidentiality around complex relationships and projects.
A background with evaluation and/or grants management is desirable but not necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

Engage with SACNAS staff, members, and partners to understand their programmatic needs and implement technologies to achieve our mission.
Support SACNAS staff to define individual needs and show them how to get what they’re looking for out of Salesforce and other platforms.
Be responsible for the data integrity and security of our membership and event records.
Oversee vendors: including in the migration of existing data from CiviCRM to Salesforce and from other platforms into the new Salesforce database.
Drive the migration of any and all data currently residing in legacy systems and/or otherwise obsolete data sources (e.g. spreadsheets) into Salesforce.
Engage in strategic thinking and planning about processes, vision, and improvements to SACNAS’ technical footprint. Develop approaches to leverage technology to meet our programmatic objectives.
Participate in SACNAS program development and manage additional programs as required.
Oversee special projects as assigned.
Manage system and data integrity by establishing end-user best practices. Consult with and develop best practices for SACNAS staff to follow and offer ongoing internal trainings for SACNAS staff, members on Salesforce, Basecamp, CVENT, etc.
Collaborate closely with SACNAS staff to create custom forms, surveys and registration modules within CVENT/Salesforce and run reports.
Setup accounts; manage access and privileges for Salesforce users.
Craft recommendations for program development and identify areas for impact.
Oversee the sharing of data between Salesforce and the SACNAS website.
Responsible for project management of a website refresh and subsequent day-to-day management (Webmaster).
Oversee the day-to-day management, structure and plugins for SACNAS’ new Salesforce database.
Develop fields, objects, validation rules, triggers, and approval processes to address and improve new and existing business needs.
Collaborate with staff to gather biographical and contact information to ensure a clean membership dataset.
Update and maintain SACNAS’ Salesforce user role/profile hierarchy.
Work with SACNAS staff on all event management activities for the National Conference, Leadership Institute, regional meetings, chapter events, etc.
Sync all organizational calendars (Salesforce, Basecamp, Outlook).
Coordination with desktop support vendor to ensure organization-wide tech access.
Plan and track financial aspects of technical activities.
Report on inputs and outcomes of tech efforts across the organization.
Ensure that the values, mission, and strategic vision of SACNAS are evident throughout all programming initiatives.
