Program Coordinator (PrEP) – The National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS Inc (NBLCA) – New York, NY

The National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, Inc. (NBLCA) is seeking a Program Coordinator, responsible for developing a PrEP educational program targeting high risk HIV negative men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender females and African American females.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the development of a PrEP assessment tool to be utilized by HIV test counselors, persons providing HIV/STI prevention services, medical and other service providers.
Provide education and training to HIV test counsellors to utilize a brief assessment tool within the context of individual and/or couples HIV testing encounters.
Assist high risk negative persons to access medical care including integrated screening for STDs, viral hepatitis, TB infection and vaccination against Hepatitis A,B and HPV; vocational training, and referrals for other essential services and resources (i.e. health insurance, housing, and other basic needs).
Coordinate community advisory committees consisting of members of the target population to develop appropriate PrEP messages to be incorporated in social media the development of a specialized mobile/ smartphone app with functionality to include client and provider assessment of risk of HIV acquisition, Prep provider locations, reminder tool for daily adherence, periodic HIV testing and free condom distribution sites.
Implement a short term group level intervention evidenced based intervention for high risk negative persons.
Maintain a resource database of medical providers offering PrEP.
Some experience in HIV/AIDS-related medical/social/testing/prevention issues, including addiction, homelessness, sexuality issues preferred.
Provides periodic HIV testing and HIV information to high risk negative persons.
Prepares monthly, mid-year and end of project reports as required by agency and funder.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree required. Master Public Health preferred.
Experience in HIV/AIDS related medical/social/testing/prevention issues, including addiction, homelessness, sexuality issues preferred.
CDC or MDCH training in HIV Prevention and Education, HIV Counseling is preferred but may be obtained post-employment.
Ability to help clients with diverse psychosocial needs.
Sensitivity to populations at increased risk for HIV acquisition (through injectable drug use, exposure to an intravenous drug user, high-risk sexual activities such as commercial sex, street, and homelessness).
Sensitivity to ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, values, beliefs, and behaviors.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
Positive, professional, team-oriented attitude.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This position will require travel within the U.S.
