Program Assistant – Climate Resolve – Los Angeles, CA

Founded in 2011, Climate Resolve’s mission is to make Southern California more livable and prosperous today and for generations to come by inspiring people at home, at work and in government to reduce greenhouse gas pollution and prepare for climate impacts. To achieve its mission, Climate Resolve develops communication strategies that make local climate impacts relatable to people, builds collaborations to implement regional climate initiatives, and promotes practical solutions for Southern California.

Position: Reporting to the Associate Director (AD), the Program Assistant (PA) will carry out research, outreach and other programmatic activities to support in the execution of well-defined organizational goals and contracted deliverables. Such research will include reviews of potential climate resiliency approaches, as well as institutional capacity analyses to gain better understanding of the local governance landscape. The research involves reaching out to relevant stakeholders to obtain information that is not readily publically available — an undertaking which requires tact and a compelling, collaborative approach to elicit desired responses. Additional outreach tasks might include engaging in educational campaigns to inform the general public and key decision-makers of viable climate solutions. Lastly, the PA will assist with researching funding opportunities, preparing grant applications and other proposals that meet Request for Proposals’ stated scopes of work, and other development-oriented communications.

Qualifications: The PA will be thoroughly committed to Climate Resolve’s mission. S/he should have proven experience that includes:

Action-oriented yet thorough research and critical, constructive analysis
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency at being collegial, forming and maintaining partnerships with diverse stakeholders and constituencies
Effectively executing performance- and outcomes-based programmatic activity
Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
Familiarity with planning processes and local regulatory frameworks is preferred
Experience in writing grant proposals and other fundraising activity is a plus
A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work well on a team as well as independently
