Our Assistant Manager assists with the daily management and administration of GLIDE’s Daily Free Meals Program and is responsible for the management of staff and volunteers, dining room operations, and ensuring the maintenance of health, safety and sanitation levels.

The most demanding aspect of this job is the management of people and includes the coordination of people and resources; handling problems and coping with the unexpected are daily tasks. This person is expected to coach (and model) radically inclusive, just and loving behavior, exemplary customer service, outstanding job performance, peaceful problem resolution, and respectful client management.

Work responsibilities will, at times, require long days and/or evening or weekend responsibilities. Excellent attendance is required with schedule flexibility determined by agency needs. You ready for this?

What you bring to GLIDE

Experience in Food Service Management (preparation/service) and a demonstrated commitment to quality service.

You take this work seriously—you have food safety certification. You have knowledge of health and sanitation laws.

Supervisory experience; strong team management and teamwork skills; actively supervises, instructs, and motivates.

The job is physically and mentally demanding. Problems arise constantly and staff must maintain smooth operations while satisfying the needs and demands of all patrons. Because of these demands and the amount of standing and walking required, stamina and a high energy level are essential.

Experience working in a community-based social service agency with the targeted population (homeless, people with addiction and/or mental health problems) is NOT a requirement, but you have to understand GLIDE’s community and be willing to cultivate understanding of the psycho-social and economic issues that impact staff, volunteers and clients.
