MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger is a national nonprofit working to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel.

MAZON, which means “food” or “sustenance” in Hebrew, was the first national organization to rally the American Jewish community around the issue of hunger, and remains the only national Jewish organization dedicated exclusively to that same cause.

MAZON employs three interrelated strategies – education and advocacy, partnership grantmaking and strategic initiatives – in our effort to approach the problem of hunger holistically. We are committed to ensuring hungry people have access to the resources they need today, and working to develop and advance long-term solutions so that no one goes hungry tomorrow.

Position Overview:

MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger seeks an industrious Outreach Manager to support and advance the organization’s priorities for engaging external audiences in our anti-hunger advocacy work. The Outreach Manager’s primary role will be to help the Director of Outreach & Communications conceive and execute strategies and tactics that effectively reflect our mission and yield increased support for MAZON. He/she will report to the Director of Outreach and Communications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Support Director of Outreach and Communications on marketing, advertising and public relations activities (traditional, digital and social) to help build awareness of and affinity for MAZON.
Monitor and remain current on anti-hunger trends, public policies, and political, social or cultural developments that may present unique opportunities to raise MAZON’s profile.
Actively seek ways to collaborate with colleagues across the organization to support MAZON’s programmatic work.
Write, design and maintain brochures, handouts, flyers, posters, ads and other marketing collateral.
Work with Development department to write and design direct mail solicitation letters, donor cultivation pieces and other fundraising materials.
Represent MAZON at Jewish and/or hunger-related events.
Some nights, weekends and travel are required.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. Masters degree a plus.
Minimum 5 years experience in marketing, marketing communications and/or PR, with demonstrated responsibility for writing and design of external-facing materials.
Excellent English written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Understanding of Judaism and experience working within the Jewish community.
Experience working in a nonprofit focused on social justice issues highly desired. Anti-hunger experience a plus.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) required. Experience with Salesforce a plus.
