Techbridge delivers after-school programs for 4th through 12th grade girls in low-income communities to inspire their interest in science and technology careers, and provides training and resources on science and technology education to national partners like Girl Scouts and YMCA. Since its founding 16 years ago, Techbridge has reached over 66,000 youth across the country. Position Overview

The Marketing and Communications Manager manages and supports a slate of important activities which publicize the organization’s nationwide work among external constituencies, including website, social media, newsletter, mail and email communications, fundraising appeals, print projects such as the annual report, and special events. The position requires a candidate with exceptional writing skills, graphic design skills, strong attention to detail and project management skills. This is an exciting opportunity to support the marketing efforts of a nationally scaling organization with programs across the country. The Marketing and Communications Manager reports to the Director of Development and Communications.

Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership, project management and hands-on support for the organization’s calendar of communications, events and marketing projects;
Support communications and marketing in all formats, including e-communication, social media, web and print;
Conceptualize and develop high-quality marketing materials including fundraising mailings, an e-newsletter, annual report, event publicity and advertising;
Report and analyze results of communications and marketing efforts for continuous improvement; Provide monthly marketing and communications reports and updates and maintain the Marketing Dashboard;
Manage the production (timeline, writing, editing/proofreading, design, photography, graphics, printing and/or duplication, and dissemination) of all marketing materials, publications, including newsletters and communications;
In partnership with the Director of Development and Communications, serve as a primary strategist and supporter for all media relations efforts, generate press releases and/or make contact with appropriate media outlets;
Ensure that materials, data, photographic and video libraries, and historical information are maintained and available as a resource to all staff;
Guide staff on the use of social media to publicize program activity; work with Development Director and Communications to create strategies for growth on LinkedIn and other social media channels;
Partner with Director of Development and Communications to plan editorial calendar content and deadlines;
Manage newsletter development, including timely collection of content across staff; write articles and coordinate the submission of staff articles; manage design, proofing and approval process; report on results (e.g., reach and click rates)
Update copy, content and images on the Techbridge website, proactively identify out-of-date content and partner with staff to update; manage future web site design revision
With guidance from the Director of Development and Communications, conceptualize, plan and manage donation appeals via direct mail, email and social media; report on and analyze results for continuous improvement
Provide support for special events including publicity, logistics, and execution of special events ranging from tabling opportunities at corporate employee campaigns to an annual event of up to 200 guests
Support advertising and publicity projects with external partners;
Represent the organization at tabling and networking events;
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
2+ years of experience in a similar marketing and communications role;
High technical aptitude with a variety of communications platforms, such as Constant Contact, Vertical Response, MailChimp, Eventbrite and HootSuite;
Database experience (Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge preferred);
Strong organizational skills;
Ability to work accurately and with attention to detail;
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
Strong customer service orientation;
Ability to build internal and external relationships in order to achieve results;
Strong skill-set in time management and experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines;
Resourceful, self-motivated, creative, and flexible
Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Capable of learning new programs quickly

This is a regular full-time exempt position based in Oakland, California; benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, 4 weeks of paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
