Green Power Marketing & Communications Intern – People’s Power and Light – Providence, RI

People’s Power & Light (PP&L) is a non-profit organization that has been working for 13 years to make energy more affordable and environmentally sustainable. We aim to help consumers and policymakers find cost-effective ways to reduce carbon emissions 80% by 2050.

Our green electricity program provides over 7000 members with energy from local renewable sources. Green Power Marketing & Communications Intern is instrumental to help grow membership. We’re looking for a good communicator, interested in marketing, who feels passionately about clean energy.

Specific Responsibilities include:  Planning and managing PP&L’s presence at local events;  Working on a team to design new strategies to promote our green electricity programs;  Providing customer service to members, and general program support tasks;  Maintaining a robust presence for the organization on social media platforms;

Desired Skills:  Familiarity with renewable energy and its positive impact, with a desire to learn more.  Excellent written & verbal communication skills, in-person, on the phone, and in a team setting.  Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional demeanor.  Experience in organizing, marketing, customer service, event planning, and/or sales.  Experience with social media outreach a plus.  Knowledge of basic video editing software a plus.

Other Details: It’s a paid internship. This intern will be expected to commit to a work schedule of at least 30 hours/week. The internship will last at least 8 weeks, beginning date is TBD. The intern will work from our office in Providence, and will be expected to travel and occasionally work at night and on weekends.
