Grants and Communications Manager – Cope Family Center – Napa, CA

About the Organization Cope Family Center has been empowering Napa County families to create happy, healthy lives for their children through child abuse prevention, parent education and self-sufficiency services since 1972. In response to a staggering increase in reported local child abuse incidences over the last few years, our nonprofit organization embarked on an ambitious 3-year strategy to expand programs and services and to strengthen the organizational infrastructure to sustain our growth. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Grants and Communications Manager to support this endeavor and help us reverse the trend of child abuse.

Job Summary As Grants and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for achieving Cope Family Center’s annual fundraising and communications goals under the guidance of the Development Director.

Primary Responsibilities

As the Grants Manager, you will:

Work closely with the Development Director and staff and volunteers to ensure that fund development throughout the organization is effectively strategized and implemented
Oversee all existing, renewal, and proposed grants of the organization
Research new grant opportunities
Write grant proposals and reports
Partner with Cope staff to develop proposals based on agency need
Work with the Leadership Team to develop evaluation methodology and thorough documentation of programming for reporting purposes
Oversee grants management; specifically you will:
Coordinate the execution of all reports and proposals by creating project timelines and holding relevant parties accountable to the project timeline including program managers and/or staff
Develop and maintain all systems for tracking and filing (hard copies and electronic)

As Communications Manager, you will:

Promote awareness of the organization and build support through media relations, marketing, public relations, and communications
Assist the Development Director in developing the organization’s key message and image and plan, develop, implement, and maintain quality control of communications regarding the organization
Develop compelling written correspondence in support of funding opportunities
Develop relationships with local media and produce news releases to publicize events and initiatives
Create, design, and produce event-related collateral, including, but not limited to, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, flyers, invitations (physical and electronic), newsletters and other fundraising publications
Coordinate social media platforms and outreach and assist with website updates

Qualifications and Competencies

A master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit development, marketing, communications, social work, or other human services-related field.
Strong understanding of fund development strategies for non-profits
Excellent skills in developing, implementing and maintaining systems
Demonstrated strong skills and experience with grant writing, including technical, storytelling and marketing language
Demonstrated experience in an organizational communications setting, with hands on experience in public relations, communications strategy, and/or marketing communications
Knowledge of public relations and marketing
Knowledge of data collection techniques and data management
Proven skill in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Some experience in web content management systems
Some knowledge of HTML preferred
Ability to organize, and prioritize work of self, individuals, and teams
Ideally a strong understanding of Cope Family Center programs and history of funding
Ability to recognize one’s strengths and weaknesses and engage in ongoing development
Pass DOJ and FBI fingerprinting and background check.
