Director of Marketing and Communications – The Church and Schools of Saint Dominic

DESCRIPTION
The Church and Schools of Saint Dominic, a Roman Catholic Pre-K through Grade 12 school located in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York seeks and experienced Director of Marketing and Communications. Reporting directly to the Pastor, the Director is responsible for developing a marketing strategy in line with the school’s vision and Catholic values and delivering on it through internal and external communications.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will work closely with the Pastor, Administration, Admissions, and Development

The Director of Marketing and Communications will advance the following priorities:
• Plan and execute programs that enhance the visibility and public perception of St. Doms.
• Ensure clear and transparent communication between & among all constituencies of St. Doms

Specific responsibilities to advance these priorities include the following:
• Manage, contribute and maintain all content for the websites of the Church and Schools
• Produce and distribute weekly electronic newsletter to current parent body
• Assist in distribution of email communication as needed for Admissions, Development and Administration
• Manage media relations, including writing and distributing press releases and cultivating relations with local media
• Attend and photograph on- and off-site School events; maintain the archival photo library for all St. Dom events
• Review the production of all school publications, including the Pride, handbooks, event invitations, programs, flyers, etc.
• Produce advertisements for admissions purposes
• Collaborate with Admissions Office on admissions-themed advertisements, marketing materials, information session material, and relationships with outside constituents
• Collaborate with Development Office on development-related electronic and print brochures, invitations, solicitations, stewardship pieces, The Pride, and the Annual Report for the Schools and the Church.
• Liaison with the School Board and parent organizations on annual objectives
• Manage school’s relationships with outside website vendor, photographers, graphic designers and printing firms
• Collaborate with the Administration, Admissions, and Development Offices to develop and direct all integrated social media efforts
• Create a deeper level of branding for the School across all media and audiences
• Update existing marketing plan as needed with strategic long-term and tactile short-term objectives
• Manage and plan department budget including all advertising expenses
• Maintain common editorial and graphic standards across school publications for branding reputation and integrity

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
• Be a practicing Roman Catholic
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum five years’ experience in marketing, communications or public relations, preferably in a school environment
• Excellent writing and editorial skills, as well as a talent for publication design
• Ability to create content as well as identify and generate creative story ideas
• Skilled in traditional branding techniques
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate widely with various constituencies throughout the Church and School communities
• Technical skills to support the above
