Development / Communications Coordinator – Friendship Circle Washington – Seattle, WA

The Friendship Circle is a non-profit organization that provides education, therapies, respite and activities for families, children, and teens with special needs. The Friendship Circle’s unique formula introduces children and teens with special needs with typical teens to foster inclusion and friendship.

The Friendship Circle is seeking a Development and Communications Coordinator. This position will report directly to the Executive Director. The Friendship Circle office is located in Mercer Island.

Duties & Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Development:

Independently research and persue new grant opportunities
Strengthen relationships with existing funders and donors
Write program reports to submit to donors and funders
Maintain The Friendship Circle’s donor database
Generate pledge reminders and ensure prompt recognition of all donations
Cultivate relationships with new donors
Write annual appeal letters and track the results of various appeal strategies

Communications:

Strengthen The Friendship Circle’s social media presence (Facebook, Twitter)
Regularly update The Friendship Circle website (no HTML required)
Write engaging quarterly printed newsletters and monthly e-newsletters

Event Planning:

Assist the Executive Director and other Friendship Circle staff in planning the Walk With Friendship event and Annual Dinner
Track event donations and ensure prompt recognition
Secure in-kind donations
Strengthen relationships with existing sponsors and seek out new partnerships

Ideal candidates will have 1+ years of experience in a nonprofit setting. Ideal candidates will also have some experience in the development field (grant writing, donor communications, event planning, etc). Candidates must also have a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and produce quality written materials.

Minumum Qualifications:

Superior written and oral communication skills
Attention to detail and highly organized
Self-starter
Desire to grow within the nonprofit development field and take on new responsibilities
Personable and friendly
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher
Proven ability to work on multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
