Development and Marketing Manager – Nature Consortium – Seattle, WA

The Development and Marketing manager will be responsible for building effective and efficient fundraising processes, as well as for overseeing the development of compelling and consistent organizational marketing and communications that clearly articulate Nature Consortium’s mission, vision, and impact. Nature Consortium’s projected revenue goal for the 2016 FY is $600,000. The Development and Marketing Manager will ensure that Nature Consortium’s annual target for contributed and earned income is met while positioning the organization to ramp up revenues in subsequent years.

Key Responsibilities:

Development

Develop, implement, and analyze a comprehensive fundraising plan including annual fund, monthly giving, major gifts, grants, contracts, direct mail, corporate sponsorship, and online fundraising
Work with the Executive Director to determine solicitation strategies for increased giving opportunities with donors
Develop strategic donor recognition opportunities
Plan and facilitate moves management cycle
Supervise part-time Grant Writer and oversee the grants and reporting calendar in conjunction with the Grant Writer. Ensure timely and high-quality submissions, and identify and cultivate prospective foundation and corporate grantors. Review, edit, and occasionally write grants.
Work closely with the Executive Director and the Board to identify and cultivate new funding opportunities to expand Nature Consortium’s circle of funders
Oversee the development of fundraising and stewardship materials, including annual fund appeal, direct mail solicitations, annual report, newsletters, e-appeals and web content
Manage, track, and update Salesforce CRM system

Oversee planning, management, and execution of fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events

Marketing

Work with the Executive Director in the development of Nature Consortium’s case for support and key messaging
Develop, implement, and perform timely, data-driven assessment of a comprehensive marketing plan to identify and capture target markets for Nature Consortium’s public programs and fee based services and programs
Supervise Communications and Outreach Coordinator and exercise oversight of all assigned marketing and communications activities
Manage a detailed schedule of marketing activities; ensure the appropriate review of copy
Develop and manage fundraising and marketing budgets in partnership with the Executive Director
Oversee all aspects of Nature Consortium branding and messaging to assure consistency in design and content
Cultivate media relationships and maintain an up-to-date list of contacts for press releases, pitch public interest stories, and advertising
Represent Nature Consortium through public speaking and select events

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience
5+ years of fundraising or relevant experience managing membership programs, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, and gift solicitation
At least three years of supervisory experience and participation on a leadership team working collaboratively to develop organizational strategies
Demonstrated skill and a track record in fundraising to support and build mission-driven organizational capacity
Proven project management, organization and event planning skills
Demonstrated skill as a communicator, able to grasp and compellingly and crisply convey Nature Consortium’s vision, mission, long-range plan and strategies; Strong, clear, accessible writing and verbal skills; strong storytelling skill
Computer proficiency, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and OneNote. Experience with donor and/or CRM databases or Salesforce CRM required
Self-directed with ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in nonprofit management, arts leadership, marketing, business administration or related field desirable
Extensive knowledge of nonprofit fundraising and marketing processes, including fee for service contracts, major gifts, and annual fund, and organizational branding strongly desired
Proven track record of managing a development program and meeting goals from diverse sources
Ability to compile and analyze data
Demonstrated leadership skill, capability to design long-term strategic initiatives, and the ability to set priorities and manage multiple short-term projects simultaneously are all essential to the job
A creative, collaborative, humorous, inspirational, reliable, and hard-working nature with ability to give and receive constructive feedback is strongly desired
Knowledge and experience with Form Assembly, WordPress, and video editing desirable
Fundraising certification and/or Strategic Marketing experience a plus

Working Conditions:

Sitting for long periods of time while working on a computer and phone
Lifting items up to 25 pounds
Attending events that require 1-4 hours of standing and walking on uneven surfaces and rustic trails in the greenbelt
Other physically active work (loading/unloading, moving supplies/event equipment, standing) needed for special events
Candidates must be available for evening and weekend work
