Communications Assistant – Worldfund – New York, NY

Employment Type: Internship, part time

Duration: dates negotiable with preference given to those who would like to extend through the fall semester

Eligibility:

Must be at least a college sophomore in good standing, an advanced student, or a recent graduate.
Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Organization Description: Worldfund is a nongovernmental organization whose mission is to provide teacher training in Latin America. We are headquartered in New York City and have offices in Mexico City, Mexico, and São Paulo, Brazil.

We are currently seeking an intern to work closely with the development and communications team to develop and implement key communications efforts. You will work mainly with the Development and Communications Associate, the Executive Director and an intern working on communications efforts.

Projects:

refine and implement the organizational social media policy
Explore new avenues for communicating our work to interested supporters

The intern will also be encouraged to pick a continuing project of her or his own to complete throughout his or her time with Worldfund and is encouraged to brink new project ideas forward at any time.

Necessary skills:

creativity
superb research and writing skills
a positive attitude
experience and interest in utilizing social media outlets for social good
interest in the nonprofit sector, particularly as it relates to education

Other job responsibilities may include editing marketing materials for print and web, database entry and maintenance, drafting letters and other written materials, and planning/staffing special events.

Preferred skills:

A background in or knowledge of international affairs, education, or Latin America
language ability in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a BIG plus
Experience with content management systems such as Joomla
Design skills, with or without tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite
