ORGANIZATIONAL VISION, MISSION, AND FUNCTION

The Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties is a non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to catalyzing and sustaining a vibrant Jewish community. Federation supports those in need, deepens engagement in Jewish life, and strengthens the bonds among Jews in the Bay Area, in Israel, and around the world. Our primary functions are financial resource development and grant-making.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer of the Jewish Community Federation, the Senior Director, Venture Philanthropy will manage the new JCF Center for Venture Philanthropy and Philanthropic Services. The SDVP will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and senior staff to launch this philanthropic hub for the South Peninsula Giving Community. This new effort will focus on impactful venture philanthropy and philanthropic education resulting in increased engagement, satisfaction and giving to JCF priority and issue areas

The SDVP serves as a leadership level fundraiser within a diverse development environment which includes a significant community endowment, donor-involved vehicles, and annual giving. This high profile position will work with our highest level donors, most senior volunteers, and staff at all levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Responsible for engagement, community outreach and business development for the Federation’s philanthropic services.
Serve as Donor Relationship Manager (DRM) for a portfolio of approximately 75 key donors and prospects beginning at the Major Gifts ($10,000+) level.
Develop a multi-year philanthropic and stewardship strategy for assigned relationships with a focus on growth.
Play a visible and collaborative leadership role within the overall Development Department and for organization-wide projects and priorities.
Actively engage senior volunteer leadership for the organization through identification, solicitation and stewardship efforts.
Manage regular donor/prospect communication, cultivation and direct solicitation with specific metrics and fundraising goals.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING EQUIVALENT TO:

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in the field of Jewish Communal Service (or comparable field) desired.
Major Gift Officer with successful fundraising experience including direct solicitation of five and six figure gifts.
Experience in a multi-faceted fundraising environment (major gifts, planned gifts, donor advised vehicles) desired.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE):

Exceptional donor-relations skills: proven ability in creating strategies to cultivate prospects and channel donor engagement.
Demonstrated ability to establish and meet objectives and performance standards in an independent environment.
Knowledge of and appreciation for the Jewish community, its customs and practices.
Proven track record of success with fundraising systems and prospect identification.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and various electronic communication tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a highly motivated goal-oriented team environment.
