United EMS Workers (UEMSW AFSCME 4911) is a labor union for EMS (emergency medical services, i.e. EMTs, Paramedics, Dispatchers, and others) professionals. UEMSW 4911 was created in 2012 to represent and promote private ambulance emergency workers. UEMSW 4911 has grown to be a nationwide labor union.
UEMSW 4911 has an immediate need for an office manager/comptroller. This position will have a high level of autonomy with frequent need for thinking outside the box. We want someone who takes the initiative to promote an environment where union workers can find the answers they need. We are looking for a candidate who has experience working as or with EMS professionals and/or labor unions. This will be a full time position with an office in Livermore. Description:
The incumbent will report to United EMS Worker’s Board of Directors and Executive Director/Administrative Chief. Incumbent will be able to work independently under general direction and is responsible for coordination or clerical administrative support functions to support the Board of Directors, Executive Director and Union Employees. Incumbent will be responsible for all comptroller duties such as maintaining financial, accounting, administrative and personnel services in order to meet legislative requirements and support UEMSW AFSCME 4911 operations.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative support (i.e. meeting and calendar management, travel planning, expense administration, etc)
Overall Office Management
Work with Board of Directors
Develop a working knowledge of UEMSW bylaws, different contracts, employment/labor laws and state requirements to provide support to Board of Directors and Union Employees
Help design and implement office policies and procedures
Bookkeeping and accounting skills
Manage the filing, storage and security of documents
Respond to inquiries
Administer and monitor the financial system in order to ensure finances are maintained and in an accurate and timely manner
Assist with preparation of budget
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of increasing responsibility in office operations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail-Oriented, organized and excellent time management skills
Comfortable with technology, must be proficient in MS Office Suite
Ability to develop strong working relationship with peers
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
Computerized accounting programs
Accounts Payable and Receivables
Generally accepted accounting principles
Fund accounting
Preparation of financial reports and municipal services
Preferred experience working with Labor Unions and experience in emergency medical services.
