Institutional Giving Manager – Chashama – New York, NY

Part-Time, 24 Hours/Week, 3 Days/Week

chashama seeks an experienced and passionate arts fundraising professional to join our team as Institutional Giving Manager. The Institutional Giving Manager oversees and implements all aspects of foundation, government and corporate giving, and is a vital part of chashama’s small but dedicated development team.

For 20 years, chashama has supported over 12,000 artists by transforming vacant properties into studio, exhibition, and performance space. Our goal is to make presentation and studio space affordable and available to artists across a wide range of disciplines, and to help them sustain their creative practice through programs that promote their work and bolster their artistic and professional development. Every year we grant over $1.5 million in free space to visual and performing artists who live and work in New York City.

Responsibilities Include:
· Managing and maintaining grants calendar, and meeting proposal and reporting deadlines
· Developing effective and compelling cover letters, LOIs, and complex grant applications and reports to institutional, corporate, and government funders as well as preparing budgets and other supplemental materials
· Developing materials to survey and present qualitative and quantitative information about our programs and organization
· Work with programming and management teams to define and develop funding needs, strategies, and budgets
· Building, managing, and sustaining relationships with current and potential funders and grant officers to ensure strong cultivation and stewardship
· Maintaining database with up-to-date information on institutional prospects
· Work with Development Associate to plan and produce chashama’s Annual Report
· Facilitate internal grant deliverables and deadlines with chashama staff, and assisting with development of chashama’s strategic plan for organizational growth and sustainability
· Attend organization events as requested to cultivate and develop relevant relationships, and generate interest, rapport and awareness for chashama’s mission

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or higher
· Minimum of 4 years related grant writing and grant management experience, preferably in an arts focused non-profit organization or related cultural field
· Proven track record of writing successful institutional, corporate, and government grants
· Experience developing and maintaining relationships with funders at all levels, but especially with high level institutional funders
· Strong communication skills, including strong correspondence drafting skills, professional phone manner, and professional appearance for face to face meetings
· Proficiency with database management and ability to organize and analyze data towards implementation of strategic objectives
· Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects
· Highly motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a small team
· Familiarity with New York City cultural organizations and institutions, as well as passion for and knowledge of contemporary visual and performing arts

This is a part-time position (24 hrs/wk) with flexible paid time off and over 25 days of paid office holidays per year. Presence at some evening and weekend events will be required. Compensation: $26/hour, with room for growth for the right candidate. The ideal start date is the beginning of February, 2016.
