Controller (Plus) – The Giving Back Fund Inc – Los Angeles, CA

The Giving Back Fund is a nonprofit organization that provides philanthropic consulting, management and administrative services to professional athletes, celebrities, high net worth individuals, corporations and others who desire to “give back”.

We are growing and have an immediate opening for a Controller who will work with our in-house bookkeeper/accountant and report directly to our COO. This is a full-time+ position requiring a committed and dedicated individual who desires to become a long-term member of our awesome team. As a non-profit, this position is ideal for someone who does not need to maximize their income, but rather is seeking to find fulfillment by being involved with an organization involved in various meaningful projects. Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting for the umbrella organization and its approximately 40 sub-projects and numerous special events. (We are a fiscal sponsor and have several DAFs, similar to a community foundation.)

Responsibilities include preparing detailed periodic financial statements, overseeing banking, overseeing our annual audit and 990 preparation, working with our state compliance consultant, coordinating end of month activities and participating in the development of accounting and internal control policies, systems and forms. We are a smaller organization, so the candidate should not be averse to pitching in on data entry and classification/coding.

In addition to typical financial and accounting matters, this position will also handle our limited HR matters, payroll, benefits, insurance and other matters as requested by the COO.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Accounting required (CPA ideal). Ten years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting, and 3 years supervisory experience also required. Candidates must have solid experience with auditing, reporting, data analysis, accounts payable, general ledger and payroll. The successful candidate will have:

Mastery of Quickbooks Online version
A passion for philanthropy
Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, etc.
The ability to manage simultaneous and competing priorities
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment
Availability on weekends and evenings if necessary
A good sense of humor and a strong work ethic

Candidate must already live in the greater Los Angeles area – the closer to LAX the better.
