Responsibilities:
– Works closely with Senior Minister and lay leaders to ensure accurate and effective administration of congregational life.
– Manages financial and administrative functions of the congregation, including QuickBooks, accounting, and payroll in collaboration with paid staff and volunteers.
– Manages facilities maintenance, rental, and usage.
– Supervises administrative and facilities staff and oversees personnel salary and benefits with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
– Develops and maintains multiple pathways for communication among leaders, membership, and the wider community, including website, print, newsletters, email updates, and social media.
– Evaluates and prioritizes administrative functions and readily delegates to paid staff and volunteers.
– Recruits, trains, supervises, and supports volunteers, using initiative and creativity.
– Provides a high-level of professionalism, collaboration, and communication in the church office while serving as a point-of-contact for people both inside and outside the congregation.
Qualifications:
– College degree and 2-5 years’ experience in organization administration and office management.
– Experience with QuickBooks, payroll services, database software, and accounting functions.
– Supervisory and volunteer coordination experience.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including use of websites and social media.
– Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work while managing multiple projects simultaneously and working accurately with attention to detail. Capable of working independently and as part of a team of professional staff and lay leaders.
– Ability to work effectively, comfortably, and energetically with people from diverse backgrounds.
– Experience with computers and office and financial management software, including Word, Excel, QuickBooks, database management software, web management, email communications, social media, and networking; skillful adopter of new technologies.
– Satisfactory criminal background and reference checks.
– Preference given for experience with management of faith communities or nonprofits. Prior experience with Unitarian Universalism not required. Not open to congregation members.
Hours: Full-time salaried position (40 hours/week) with benefits. Requires occasional evening and weekend hours. We will also consider structuring the job to 30 hrs/week with pro-rated benefits.
Reporting: The Congregational Administrator reports to the Senior Minister
Salary: Dependent on experience. (Within UUA Fair Compensation Guidelines)
