Business Accounts Manager / Job Developer – Urban Upbound (East River Development Alliance) – Long Island City, NY

Founded in 2004, the East River Development Alliance (ERDA) is an innovative nonprofit organization in Long Island City, Queens (five minutes from Midtown) working to provide public housing residents with the tools and resources for economic success. ERDA is currently seeking an Accounts Manager to join the Workforce Development Team to play an integral role. The Accounts Manager will be the primary liaison to local and citywide employers and work with Workforce Development team to ensure that the program is on track to meeting and exceeding all stated outcomes including recruitment and job placement. The Accounts Manager will play a key role in ensuring that as Western Queens continues to develop, public housing residents are able to benefit from its growth.

Responsibilities include:

Developing and implementing a job development strategy based on labor market data, job seeker needs and local economic development projects.
Working with ERDA WFD team to ensure total contractual placements are met.
Responsible for placing a minimum of 10 clients per month with an average wage of $10.17 per hour.
Accurately track employer correspondence and participant activity in required databases and plan accordingly for performance meetings.
Interviewing, screening and matching clients to identified jobs through one on one Job Development as well as large scale hiring initiatives.
Planning and scheduling daily prospecting calls/cold calls from job postings (job boards) and database searches, face-to- face meetings, and introduction meetings (walk-ins) with potential employers.
Organizing and implementing monthly and quarterly job fairs.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with business partners to:
create a portfolio of employers who will provide sustainable job opportunities for un- and underemployed clients
maintain on-going job placement opportunities
provide career ladder/growth opportunities for workers
place jobseekers in high-wage, long-term jobs
Conducting labor market research and follow industry trends within their specific target territory in order to develop expertise.
Tracking participant placement and assist with contract reporting. (Follow up with employer as needed to ensure appropriate fit.)
Ensuring target weekly, monthly and annual goals (sales and placement) are met in accordance to business development planning and contractual goals.
Match employer needs to job-readiness programming and philosophy.
Market program benefits and jobseekers to employers.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Human Resources or related field.
At least 2-3 years’ experience in sales, marketing, Recruiting or related field.
Must be willing to travel throughout the five boroughs to meet with employers and host career fairs.
Sales-oriented.

Organized, detail and outcome oriented.
Excellent time-management skills.
Strong communication skills.
Flexible and creative.
Comfortable with cold calls, networking events, and recruitment.
