AmeriCorps Director – Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation – Brooklyn, NY

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a not-for-profit community development organization serving 8,000 residents a year through a comprehensive array of housing preservation, economic development, community organizing and youth and family support services programs and projects. With community residents leading the way, the mission of Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation is to build a strong, sustainable Cypress Hills/East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure healthy and affordable housing and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community.

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for one (1) full-time AmeriCorps Director in the Youth and Family Services Division. This position is salaried for $37,000 – $38,500 annually.
Principal Duties:

Oversee all program administration for the program, including AmeriCorps member recruitment, retention, and training and evaluation in consultation with management.
Track and assess attainment of performance measures. Use data to reassess and guide program and member development.
Through meetings, events, incentives and trainings, build a strong sense of cohesion, identification and mission in the AmeriCorps volunteers.
Insure compliance with all regulations, requirements and guidelines of National Service Commission AmeriCorps Program.
Manage reporting and tracking systems for member and program outcomes. Manage database system to maintain member information and monitor and report program outcomes.
Maintain positive working relationships with host school sites and after-school program directors utilizing AmeriCorps staff.
Serve as ‘in-house expert’ on service learning and volunteer generation.
Serve as a mentor for AmeriCorps members on issues related to their academic, personal, civic, and career development, facilitate teamwork communications among AmeriCorps members
Plan and implement monthly reflection roundtable for members.
Attend all meetings as required.

Position Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Relevant experience in education, nonprofit management, or related fields working with young adults.
Demonstrated commitment to service and volunteerism.
Computer literate.
At least one year of experience in a supervisory position.
Successful candidates must be able to manage relationships with a diverse set of community stakeholders. Candidates should be able to manage several projects at once. Candidate must be detail oriented and highly organized.
