Accounting Assistant

OVERVIEW

The Accounting Assistant is a part time (with potential to go full time), hourly, non-exempt, clerical position responsible for providing back up support to the Finance Manager. This is a temporary position with an expected start date of July 27, 2015 and expected end date of September 30, 2015.

The Accounting Assistant will perform a wide variety of entry-level accounting support including entering invoices into accounting software, processing weekly check payments and recording bank deposits. Other specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: preparing check requests; entering and coding invoices into accounts payable; processing donations and sending out thank you letters to donors; coding credit card expenses; preparing monthly donor reports; reconciling credit card and PayPal accounts; billing expenses to various funders; and other tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Reporting Relationship: Finance Manager

Supervisory Relationship: None

Supervision/Training: Meet regularly with the Finance Manager

Professional Qualifications:

Associate’s degree plus two years of relevant experience in office administration

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
Outstanding organization, project and time management skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness and flexibility
A true go-getter
Well-groomed appearance

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to read, write and converse in English
Ability to communicate with staff, stakeholders and vendors
Ability to remain calm and composed under stress

Bending, lifting (minimum 20 pound boxes and packages), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, and/or prolonged sitting/standing

Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation
Ability to organize and prioritize assignments
Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements)
Ability to evaluate/interpret information and make independent judgments and decisions.
